Even after Dominic Thiem’s exit, Austrian fans can still hope for a tournament win in red-white-red. Alexander Erler and Lucas Miedler on Friday evening sensationally made it through to the finals of the Erste Bank Oopen doubles competition.
The Austrians, whose biggest success to date was the win of the ATP 250 tournament in Kitzbühel in 2021 and who only entered the main draw due to a wildcard, beat Belgium pairing Gille/Vliegen 7-6 (4), 7-6 (5).
In the finals, they will meet the winner of Cerundolo/Gonzalez – Gonzalez/Monteni. This match will be played on Saturday. The final is scheduled for Sunday 11.45 am on the centercourt of the Wiener Stadthalle.
