Medvedev storms into finals

The tournament’s number 1 dominated Grigor Dimitrov (BUL/ATP 32) at will, winning 6-4, 6-2. Daniil Medvedev has yet to have his serve broken at the Erste Bank Open and hasn’t conceded more than 6 games in any of his matches in Vienna.

Against Dimitrov, who had shown strong performances in Vienna too, Medvedev once again made almost no mistakes. After breaking his opponent to take a 3-2 lead in the first set, the match went only one way – Medvedev’s.

In the second set, Medvedev again broke his opponent’s serve early, following up with a second on to seal the deal after 1:25 hours converting the second match point.

Medvedev was happy with his performance: “I played on a great level today. I never felt pressure on serve but was able to pressure Grigor on his. That was the difference today. I had to play some tough points and hope to keep this level up for tomorrow.”

In the finals, he will meet Denis Shapovalov who eliminated Croatian Borna Coric.
