Quarter-final clashes abound

On Friday, the four quarter-final matches of the Erste Bank Open will be played.  Word-class tennis is guaranteed in all matches.

The day’s highlight definitely will be the match between Daniil Medvedev (1) and Jannik Sinner (ITA/6). Both showed no weaknesses during the tournament so far and the fans can look forward to high speed tennis and spectacular points. Should Sinner prevail, he would repeat his semi-final from last year, while in case of a Medvedev win it would be the first semi-final in Vienna for the former number 1.

Another absolute top duel will be played between Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz, number 5 in Vienna, and Borna Coric (CRO), the winner of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Cincinnati. For both players their maiden semi-finals in Vienna is on the line.

Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov also showed great mettle in the course of the tournament, even dispatching top ten star Andrey Rublev in two easy sets. He will clash with surprise quarter finalist Marcos Giron from the USA, who made short work of Britain’s Cameron Norrie in his second round match.

The fourth quarter final will be played between Denis Shapovalov (CAN) and Daniel Evans (GBR).
