Shapovalov reaches maiden Vienna final

Canadian rolls 7-6 (4), 6-0 over Borna Coric in just 1:28 hours.

As close and competitive the first set was, as brutal and one-sided was the second between Denis Shapovalov (CAN/ATP 19) and Borna Coric (CRO/ATP 27).

Both players dominated with their serve in the first set, not conceding a single break point. In the tiebreak it was the Canadian who kept the upper hand.

After that, the match was as lop-sided as one can imagine. Coric, who had to go the distance in all his matches in Vienna this year, had an empty tank and wasn’t able to put up any more resistance. The Canadian steam-rolled over the Croatian, taking six games in a row.

In the finals on Sunday, Shapovalov will face the tournament’s number 1, Daniil Medvedev.
