“Lucky Loser” Lorenzo Sonego has continued his run at the Erste Bank Open in Vienna. In the semi final he beat Great Britain’s Daniel Evans in straight sets 6-3, 6-4.
Sonego kick started his bid for the finals in a similar fashion as the day before against Novak Djokovic, jumping out to an early 3-0 lead which the world’s no. 42 never relinquished.
After the first game in the second set, Evans had to take a medical time out to get treatment on his upper left arm and neck. The British no. 33 in the world was able to continue playing but had to surrender his very next service game. That was all Sonego needed to finish off the set and the match.
