Tennis in lofty heights

It was a sight to behold, when tennis cracks Dominic Thiem and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga hit a few balls in lofty heights on the roof of the Erste Campus on Friday afternoon in Vienna. Besides playing some tennis they also enjoyed the amazing view of the city center with Belvedere, St. Stephen’s and other sights. “I’ve been up here a few times, so I already know the view. But to play tennis up here on this roof is a totally new experience. Experiencing it with ‘Jo’ made it even more fun”, said Thiem.

The Frenchman was also impressed: “The view on the city is breathtaking. I have great memories of Vienna and the tournament, winning it in 2011. I’ve always felt very comfortable. One reason for that is that the whole team is doing a great job and cares about the players. When I play in a tournament I also want to win the trophy. For now it’s about starting well into the tournament and then I’ll take it from there”, said Tsonga, who also reached the finals in 2016 and 2017.
