After the eliminiation of Dennis Novak and the withdrawal due to sickness from Jürgen Melzer, Dominic Thiem is the last Austrian in singles of the Erste Bank Open 500. He will face American Sam Querrey for a spot in the quarterfinals. Thiem has a 2-1 head-to-head record against Querrey. After a moderate start into the tournament, Thiem has practiced his return with regard to his match-up with super server Querrey. The match is scheduled as the third on the centercourt (not before 5pm).
The day will start with a duel between Karen Khachanov (RUS) and Kei Nishikori (JPN/5) on the centercourt, directly followed by Kyle Edmund (GBR/8) vs. Fernando Verdasco (ESP).
After the match of Thiem, there is still one singles match as Gael Monfils (FRA) takes on John Isner (USA/4) before the program on the centercourt ends with a doubles.
