On Monday, the Erste Bank Open start with a real bang. In the final match of the first day of the main draw, Andrey Rublev (the tournament’s no. 3) and fan favorite Diego Schwartzman (ARG) will clash.
The day kicks off at the Wiener Stadthalle at 2 pm with the match between Karen Khachanov against US-qualifier J.J. Wolf and is followed by the first appearance of the tournament’s no. 4, Taylor Fritz, who will also face a qualifier in Yoshihito Nishioka (JPN).
First Austrian in action
Not before 5.30 pm, the first of four Austrians will step on the centercourt, when Filip Misolic makes his debut at the Erste Bank Open against Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo who only lately lost twice in a row to Dominic Thiem. “I’m very much looking forward to the match”, said Misolic, “I hope I can take away a lot from his matches against Dominic.”
The highlight of the day comes in the final match when Andrey Rublev, Vienna winner in 2020, will take on Diego Schwartzman. The man from Argentina has become a fan favorite in Vienna in 2019, when the whole centercourt chanted “Diego, Diego!”
