On June 14, the Vienna Colony Club was the place to be for this year’s spark7 ballcrew challenge – the annual event where ballkids for the Erste Bank Open are selected. With 275 registrations, a new record was set. Alongside athletic performance, the day was packed with emotions, fun and memorable encounters with special guests – all under perfect summer skies.

At several stations, participants had to demonstrate not only their reflexes, fitness, and coordination, but also their tennis knowledge and understanding of the rules. Team spirit was always at the core – because only those who act with focus, fairness, and awareness on court can make it as a ballcrew member at the Erste Bank Open.

One of the day’s highlights was the visit of wheelchair tennis ace Nico Langmann, former doubles star Alexander Peya, and entertainer Dr. Bohl. They were on hand for selfies, questions, and personal chats – much to the delight of the kids.

Especially encouraging: the commitment and enthusiasm shown by so many young tennis fans, who took part with great energy and dedication. The top participants will be informed in the coming weeks – giving them the chance to join the Erste Bank Open 2025 ballcrew and be part of the action on Center Court this October.
