The Erste Bank Open continue to evolve with the addition of a second match location. Three tennis courts will be set up in the Marx Halle, two of which will be used as match courts (#glaubandich Court and Fairplay Court) and one for training purposes. This will also further increase the entertainment factor of the tournament, as fans will not only have the opportunity to watch the matches in the Marx Halle, but also to watch the tennis stars up close during their training sessions.

One of the highlights in the Marx Halle is a wheelchair tennis tournament, which is being held in close cooperation with win2day. The call of Nico Langmann, who will be participating in this event as “Playing Ambassador,” has brought some of the absolute greats of this sport to Vienna. With Alfie Hewett (ENG/number 2 in the world rankings), Martin De La Puente (ESP/3), Gordon Reid (ENG/5), Ruben Spaargaren (NED/7), and Maikel Scheffers (NED/20), highly decorated superstars of the international wheelchair tennis scene will be serving on the Fairplay Court in singles and doubles.

This is also confirmed by numerous impressive figures: Alfie Hewett has won no fewer than 33 Grand Slam titles (10 singles, 23 doubles) in his career to date and, together with Gordon Reid, also won gold in the doubles at the 2024 Paralympics in Paris. Reid's track record at Grand Slam tournaments is equally impressive, with 29 triumphs (2 singles, 27 doubles). In addition, the Briton won gold in the singles at the 2016 Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro. Maikel Scheffers has celebrated the most tournament victories with 192 career titles (63 singles, 129 doubles) to date. Another outstanding fact: all five exceptional players have already won trophies at at least one of the four majors.

The singles final of the wheelchair tennis tournament will take place on the big stage at the Wiener Stadthalle on the semi-final Saturday, October 25, 2025. “The tournament as part of the Erste Bank Open offers us a great opportunity to present wheelchair tennis to a wider audience and thus also to raise awareness of the sport. This is a great chance to make our sport more popular in Austria. The field of participants guarantees wheelchair tennis at the highest level,” promises Nico Langmann.

“By incorporating wheelchair tennis and a youth tournament into the Erste Bank Open, we have set ourselves the goal of focusing on inclusion and offering an even broader spectrum of tennis. This also gives greater significance to the social relevance of the tournament,” explains tournament director Herwig Straka.
