Alexander Zverev, the 2021 Erste Bank Open champion, moves into the semifinals without stepping on court. Tallon Griekspoor was unable to compete because of an injury.

Zverev still came out onto the court and gave an interview first: “Of course, I’m happy to be in the semifinals now, but I was also looking forward to playing a good match today. Matches against Tallon are always great battles, and I was really up for that challenge.”

Zverev had even warmed up with the Dutchman earlier that day: “It must have happened during the last few shots. You could tell he was in pain when serving.”

After the interview, Zverev treated the crowd to an open training session on Centre Court, much to the delight of the fans.
