Rising star Daniel Mérida set for Red Bull BassLine debut

A new name joins the line-up for Vienna’s tennis party of the year: Spanish rising star Daniel Mérida will make his Red Bull BassLine debut at the Wiener Stadthalle on Friday, 23 October 2026. The 21-year-old has already broken into the world’s top 50 and is the second player confirmed for the tie-break event, alongside the previously announced Jakub Menšík.

Mérida has made his mark this season. He claimed his first ATP Tour title in Umag before reaching the quarter-finals of the ATP Masters 1000 event in Montréal, where his run was ended by another young talent, American Learner Tien.

“I’ve heard so many exciting things about Red Bull BassLine and can’t wait to be part of it and entertain the crowd,” says Mérida ahead of his debut. From 7 pm, six players will face off on Centre Court in a fast-paced tie-break format. DJ beats, entertainment and special rules will create an atmosphere unlike anything at a traditional tennis tournament.

Menšík will also be making his first Red Bull BassLine appearance. “The format is exciting and fast, and it creates a special connection between the players and the fans,” says the Czech. The remaining four players will be announced soon.
