The action on Center Court begins at 1:30 pm with Daniel Mérida taking on third seed Daniil Medvedev. The young Spaniard enters the match full of confidence after winning Red Bull BassLine at the Wiener Stadthalle on Friday. However, he now faces a significantly tougher challenge in the shape of the 2022 Vienna champion.

That will be followed by a particularly attractive first-round encounter between Lorenzo Musetti and sixth-seeded American Frances Tiafoe. Both are known for their spectacular tennis and will be looking to secure a place in the round of 16.

Rodionov counting on the home crowd

Not before 5:30 pm, Austrian Davis Cup hero Jurij Rodionov will step onto Centre Court. The local favourite, who received a wildcard for the main draw, faces Georgia’s Nikoloz Basilashvili. Basilashvili entered the tournament as a special exempt after coming through qualifying and reaching the Almaty final last week, where he was defeated by Daniil Medvedev.

Rodionov can count on plenty of vocal support from the home crowd in his opening singles match. A victory would send him through to the round of 16.

The day concludes not before 8:00 pm with Learner Tien facing fifth seed Alex de Minaur. Tien impressed in his opening-round victory over Luca Van Assche. De Minaur had to work considerably harder in his first match, taking more than two hours and three sets to overcome Czech qualifier Tomas Machac.
