Moutet knocks Medvedev out of the tournament

The marathon day at Vienna’s Stadthalle continued with the second match on Center Court. After Matteo Berrettini and Cameron Norrie had battled for more than three and a quarter hours, Daniil Medvedev (ATP 14) and Corentin Moutet (ATP 36) seemed determined to follow suit. The first set alone lasted over an hour and fifteen minutes.

Moutet opened with a break against Medvedev, who later broke back to level at 4-4. In the tiebreak, Medvedev led 3-1 before Moutet reeled off the next six points to take the set.

The second set turned into a real break fest. This time, Medvedev was the first to break serve, but Moutet immediately hit back. At 4-3 for Moutet, things took a strange turn: Medvedev was broken again, but Moutet failed to serve out the match. Medvedev couldn’t capitalize on the momentum, and Moutet sealed the final and decisive break to love to claim victory.

Bublik cruises into quarter finals

The only round-of-16 match played at the Marx Halle on Thursday featured Alexander Bublik (KAZ, ATP 16) against Francisco Cerundolo (ARG, ATP 21). Bublik, in outstanding form this season, left his opponent no chance, advancing comfortably to the quarterfinals with a 6-4, 6-2 win after just 65 minutes.
