Jannik Sinner (ATP 2) set the tone with a largely comfortable straight-sets win over Australia’s Alex de Minaur (ATP 7) in the semifinals and is now hoping “for a great final.” In their head-to-head record, the Italian trails 3–4, but he has won their last two encounters — at this year’s Australian Open and at the 2024 ATP Masters in Cincinnati.
Alexander Zverev (ATP 3) also advanced in straight sets, defeating Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti (ATP 8) without coceiding a single break point. “The serve was the biggest difference between today and the earlier rounds,” Zverev noted afterward, adding that he’ll need a similar serving performance in the final: “I know I’ll have to play my best tennis against Jannik. The serve will be one of the key shots.”
One thing is certain: after Sunday’s final, one of them will become a two-time Erste Bank Open champion. Zverev lifted the trophy in 2021, while Sinner triumphed in his last Vienna appearance in 2023.
