This year's Erste Bank Open saw the premiere of Europe's first virtual tennis tournament.

In the USA and Canada, virtual reality tennis tournaments have already proven to be a resounding success. Vienna and the Erste Bank Open are now the first venue for a virtual reality tennis tournament on European soil. Together with LAOLA1, VR Motion-Learning GmbH - the visionary developer of Tennis Esports - and the Austrian Tennis Federation, the matches of the award-winning Austrian game developer VR Motion-Learning will be played on the VR app "TENNIS ESPORTS".

Erste Bank Virtual Open

The virtual play-offs took place from October 2-22, and the final on October 27 was then played live at Erste Bank Open 2 Go at the Vienna Ice Skating Club grounds on Heumarkt as part of the Erste Bank Open.
