During the spark7 Ballkids Challenge at the Colony Club in Vienna, the ball kids are "cast" for the Erste Bank Open every year. For one day, everything is about the yellow felt ball. The children and youngsters learn the most important rules for a ball kid, practice for the first time using the "net rackets" already traditional at the Erste Bank Open and are then allowed to put their skills to the test during a match with top-class young players.

This year, ÖTV young star Joel Schwärzler was present as a special motivator, from whom the tennis-enthusiastic kids could also get a lot of tips for their own game and autographs.

Of the approximately 250 participants, the 60 to 80 best kids will be chosen as ball kids in the Wiener Stadthalle and get closer to the stars of the Erste Bank Open than anyone else. All boys and girls were provided with drinks from Thalheimer and a healthy snack from Adamah throughout the day. In addition, all kids received an accreditation for the spark7 Next Gen Day powered by the City of Vienna during the Erste Bank Open!
