For Alcaraz, it will be his fifth final of the season. After winning the Australian Open and the Qatar Open at the start of the year, he also reached the final of the Masters tournament in Monte-Carlo. More recently, at one of his first events following an extended injury layoff, he claimed the title in Tokyo. Overall, this will be the Spaniard’s 37th ATP final.
After reaching the final, Alcaraz said: “This is what I work for: to experience this feeling and to reach the final at every tournament I play. I’m really, really happy that I managed to reach the final and give myself another opportunity to win a trophy. It has been a great week for me. As I’ve said after every match, this city is special. I really enjoy being here and I’m having a great time. It truly is an incredible place.”
De Minaur still unbeaten indoors
De Minaur can also look back on a strong season. The Australian remains unbeaten indoors in 2026 and holds a 10–0 record. With 21 victories at ATP 500 events, he has recorded more wins at this level than any other player this season. His run to the final has also lifted him to ninth place in the PIF ATP Race to Turin.
For de Minaur, it will be his fourth final of the season. He has already won the title in Rotterdam and also reached the finals in Beijing and ’s-Hertogenbosch. After defeating Zverev in the semi-finals, he was understandably delighted: “As I said at the start of the week, I planned to stay in Vienna for as long as possible. So I’m very happy to have the chance to play for the title tomorrow.”
A new name on the champions’ list
Alcaraz and de Minaur have both reached the Vienna final for the first time. It is therefore already certain that a new name will be added to the list of Champions of Vienna on Sunday.
Alcaraz leads their head-to-head record 6–0. Their most recent meeting came in the quarter-finals of the Australian Open at the start of the season, where eventual champion Alcaraz advanced without dropping a set.
The 2026 Erste Bank Open final begins on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
