With all qualifiers now placed in the main draw, Lukas Neumayer’s opponent has been confirmed: The Austrian will face Red Bull BassLine finalist Jakub Menšík. The eighth-seeded Czech, currently No. 16 in the world rankings, will enter the match as the clear favourite. It will be Neumayer’s first appearance in the main draw of an ATP 500 tournament. On Sunday, at his third attempt, he advanced through Erste Bank Open qualifying for the first time with a surprisingly comfortable straight-sets victory over the higher-ranked Frenchman Droguet. Read more about Neumayer’s qualifying success here. “It means an incredible amount to me to play in the main draw of a 500-level tournament for the first time. This is also the first year in which I have won a match in Vienna and qualified for the main draw. I’m already really looking forward to the opening round.”
The pair will contest Monday’s third match on Centre Court, which will not begin before 5:30 pm. A limited number of standing tickets is still available from our online ticket shop.
Top stars open the day’s play
Play at the Wiener Stadthalle begins at 1:30 pm. Fan favourite Matteo Berrettini opens the day against Argentina’s Tomas Martin Etcheverry. He will be followed by Tomas Machac (CZE), who faces current World No. 8 and fifth seed Alex de Minaur (AUS).
The final match on Centre Court will see France’s Luca Van Assche face American rising star Learner Tien from 8:00 pm.
All-Italian showdown at the Marx Halle
Another exciting day of tennis also awaits at the Marx Halle. The highlight will be an all-Italian encounter between Luciano Darderi and Matteo Arnaldi. Before that, two British players will battle for a place in the round of 16 from 5:30 pm, as Arthur Fery takes on qualifier Jacob Fearnley.
The Marx Halle opens its doors at 11:00 am. As on the previous days, several of the tournament’s stars will once again hold public practice sessions there on Monday – the perfect opportunity for fans hoping to get an autograph or selfie, as the past few days have already shown.
