From qualifying on Tuesday, 27 October, through to the semi-finals on Saturday, 31 October, the Marx Halle will provide the stage for the Erste Bank Open doubles competition. Fans can look forward to some of the world’s best teams, several Grand Slam champions and a strong Austrian pairing.
The world’s leading team is coming to Vienna
The field is headed by Harri Heliovaara and Henry Patten. Since joining forces ahead of the 2024 season, the Finnish-British duo have already won 13 ATP titles. The current leaders of the doubles world rankings triumphed at Wimbledon in 2024 and 2026, while also claiming the Australian Open and ATP Finals titles last year.
Their closest challengers are Christian Harrison and Neal Skupski. The American and the Brit won this season’s Grand Slam tournaments in Melbourne and New York and currently sit directly behind Heliovaara and Patten in second place in the annual rankings. Skupski already knows what it feels like to lift the trophy in Vienna, having won the title alongside Joe Salisbury in 2018.
Further international quality comes courtesy of Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic, as well as Italian duo Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori. Pavic has already collected 43 doubles titles during his career. Arevalo and Pavic currently occupy fourth place in the Race to Turin, immediately ahead of Bolelli and Vavassori.
Zverev also competing in doubles
One of the biggest stars of the singles draw, Alexander Zverev, will also compete in doubles. The German will team up with experienced Brazilian Marcelo Melo, meaning fans at the Marx Halle will be able to see him not only on the practice court but also in match action.
Austrian hopes rest on Lucas Miedler and Neil Oberleitner, who will compete together at the Erste Bank Open for the first time. Miedler already boasts an impressive record in Vienna: he won the title alongside Alexander Erler in 2022 and 2024 before reaching last year’s final with Francisco Cabral.
With Grand Slam champions, former Vienna winners, Alexander Zverev and a strong Austrian pairing, the Marx Halle is set to host a doubles competition of the highest international calibre.
