With Matteo Berrettini and Learner Tien, two more big names have joined the star-studded Red Bull BassLine line-up. With his powerful serve and fearsome forehand, Matteo Berrettini is made for Red Bull BassLine. The former World No. 6 and 2021 Wimbledon finalist will compete in the spectacular tie-break event at the Wiener Stadthalle on Friday, 23 October 2026.

Learner Tien is another new addition to the line-up. The American crowned his rapid rise with the title in Geneva this season and has quickly climbed into the world’s Top 20. Together with Berrettini, he strengthens a field that brings established fan favourites and some of the ATP Tour’s most exciting young talents together.

Top stars meet the next generation

Five of the six participants have now been confirmed. Alongside Matteo Berrettini and Learner Tien, Grigor Dimitrov, French Open semi-finalist Jakub Menšík and Spanish rising star Daniel Mérida will also take part.

Two generations of world-class tennis will therefore meet in Vienna. Berrettini and Dimitrov have delivered spectacular moments on the ATP Tour for years, while Menšík, Tien and Mérida rank among the most exciting players of the new generation.

Domi’s Double adds even more excitement

A new rule will bring an additional tactical element to the event. With “Domi’s Double”, each player can signal to Dominic Thiem once per match that the next rally should count for double points.

The rule provides an opportunity to turn a match around within seconds, but it also comes with plenty of risk: the two points go to the winner of the following rally, regardless of which player activated Domi’s Double.

“Red Bull BassLine is a completely different format. Everything is faster, more entertaining and more relaxed,” says Dominic Thiem.

Short matches, DJ sounds and non-stop action

The six players will initially compete in two groups of three. Matches will be played in a fast-paced best-of-three tie-break format, with just five points required to win a set. The two group winners will then advance to the final.

The crowd also becomes part of the show and can help decide which players face each other during the group stage. There are no traditional chair umpires. Instead, DJ In-Style provides the soundtrack between and even during some of the rallies.

Red Bull BassLine takes place at the Wiener Stadthalle on Friday, 23 October 2026, from 7:00 pm. Doors open at 6:00 pm. Tickets are still available and can also be purchased at the box office on the day of the event.
